This new tool is similar to Google's Body, but whereas the latter is more of a technology demonstration, Healthline BodyMaps is created to be more of an information resource. Paired with Healthline's database of health information, which is curated and semantically organized by medical practitioners, you could think of this tool as a sort of three dimensional school text book. You can search by keyword for a particular organ and search suggestions as an aide memoir to particular medical names - for example, 'fibula'.

Aging: Opportunity Or Ordeal ©

Aging: Opportunity Or Ordeal ©
by Shirley W. Mitchell, Author, Writer, Syndicated Columnist, Speaker & Celebrity Talk Show Host

Do you think Aging is an ordeal rather than an opportunity? Yes, aging is a time of transition. Transition is defined as a passage from one place to another; change. It's your choice how you spend your bonus decades. You are president of your life. With the wisdom of years of life experiences, life could be richer.

Here are the seven ways to enjoy the last half of life and consider it an opportunity. First, let the child within you play. Yes, fun is fine. Give yourself permission to have fun. Look inside yourself and discover what makes you joyful, happy and hopeful. Each person has their own special ways to have fun. Laughter boosts the spirit and immune system. The legendary Minnie Pearl said, "Laughter is a drug and I'm totally addicted."

Hang out with people you like who take you to a higher place in life. Also, make time and space for yourself - a time for getting to know yourself, a time of meditation. Be like Mireille Guiliano, author of "French Women Don't Get Fat." Eat for pleasure. Eat the healthy foods. Eat several small meals a day and make a celebration. Delicious food, served in a beautiful atmosphere and shared with a good friend is divine.

The only thing you are in complete control of is your attitude. A positive attitude will open many wonderful doors of adventure, opportunities and possibilities. A positive attitude makes you approachable, causing new friendships, work opportunties and play opportunities. High energy is a hot commodity for "Fabulous after 50" people. How do you achieve a high energy level? Exercise your body, soul and spirit. Remember, love is the oil that takes the friction out of life.

And number seven is faith. Remember, Jesus is the life preserver that keeps us from drowning in the sea of aging.

If you or your organization wants to be included, you can Sign-Up On-Line.

  - With so much technology in use, we can get On-Line just about everywhere! But if you're one of those out-and-about types, here are a few ways to keep your personal information personal while you're out in public thanks to my friends at Trend Micro...
• Try to avoid Wi-Fi hotspots that have no password protection at all.
• If a venue you're in says it has free Wi-Fi, confirm the name of the network before logging on. Otherwise you may log onto a dummy network set up by opportunistic cyberthieves trying to camouflage their true intentions.
• Set your computer to block incoming traffic and disable filesharing. Both Mac OS X and Windows have security settings that let you do this.
• Use password-saving software so that you don't have to manually type in passwords while you're on a public network—this will help thwart keyloggers, which track every keystroke you make in the hopes of discovering your passwords.
• Don't check your bank balance or pay credit cards when you're out and about. Wait until you're on a password-protected, encrypted connection that you know you can trust.
...Taking these steps can go a long way in keeping your data, privacy and your computer protected the next time you access public Wi-Fi hotspots. And in a recent post, Microsoft says "One Out of every14 Downloads Is Malware" ! Be careful out there !

Baby Boomers Turning 60 ©

Baby Boomers Turning 60 ©
by Shirley W. Mitchell, Author, Writer, Syndicated Columnist, Speaker & Celebrity Talk Show Host

With the first of the baby boomers now turning 60, some are looking forward to retirement, while others are trying to decide what they plan to do when they grow up. Life is truly inexhaustible, even beguiling. Each of us looks at life through windows of our own choosing.

Sixty-something is the buzz word as many baby boomers are sixty, fit, and sensational. The practice of personal excellence for superior living is their motto. Fitness gives top priority to good health habits, high self-esteem, and empowerment.

Aging is constant change like waves of the sea. The waves of change can be exciting, magical, and fruitful as we focus on the positive side of change. Age may become a building dance of intrigue and new horizons. Aging during what Dr. Ken Dychtwald calls the "AGE WAVE," is a high-sea adventure. Sixty years on the sea of life buoy us up with experience and strength, so we can welcome - and weather - this next decade.

I'm delighted to explore these seas of change together, to anticipate the deep-sea treasures before us. The possibilities of diminishing family responsibilities gives time and energy for discovering and following our bliss, our passion, to reach toward our creative peak.  Thoughts of retirement add to the expectation and hope of activities we have always dreamed about doing.  Many exciting prospects loom.

Are the storms of aging producing sky-high waves from the sea of life, waves that threaten to capsize you?  Such was the case for my friend and mentor, Kathleen Garrett. My petite, charming, high school home economics teacher and I were having lunch at a local restaurant.  Looking at her across the table, I knew she had been experiencing health problems. "How are you feeling? I asked. "You look great!" As we ate, she shared her secret with me. "My doctor at Mayo Clinic gave me a unique prescription," she said, her eyes twinkling. I must have looked puzzled, because she continued, "He advised me to enhance the quality of my life by getting out of bed each morning and saying, "make each day a holiday and each minute a banquet!"

A new day is dawning for the women who are 60 and over. Let your heart be encouraged. When the storms of life hit you - and they will slap the sides of your boat, splashing into your life - never waver, pray for sea legs, and hold onto the captain's wheel. Jesus is the One who quiets the sea, who bids the storms to hush. Stand firm in Him and His power! During our golden, graying years we must keep moving from life to life, watching for the sunrise even in the darkest night, waiting for the calm that comes, inevitably, after the storm.

The Reverend Grady Nutt, formerly of television's "Hee-Haw," spoke a few years ago at a banquet in Cullman, Alabama. His topic, "LIVE EVERYDAY LIKE IT WOULD BE YOUR LAST." He both preached and practiced my friend's "Holiday and Banquet advice." Flying home that night his small plane crashed. God took preacher, comedian, Grady Nutt to his heavenly home.

Heaven is the only certainty for our future. Life on this earth is fragile as a flower. The darkness and despair will wilt it.  The sunshine of joy will make it bloom. Though the nighttime is dark, the sun rises each morning with healing wings.
